International Conference on Uncertainty Quantification & Optimisation, 16-19 November 2020

Organised by the H2020 ETN UTOPIAE, UQOP gathers internationally renowned researchers developing methods in the fields of optimisation and uncertainty quantification. The conference themes cover all related aspects of computational uncertainty management and optimisation in the presence of uncertainty, with a particular emphasis on the case of complex numerical models and large simulation infrastructures. The event will host several keynote lectures and presentations from researchers within the UTOPIAE H2020 research and training network. The conference is run jointly with the 9th International Conference on Bioinspired Optimisation Methods and Their Applications (BIOMA 2020).

On Wednesday, November 18th, INM’s Matteo Diez will give a keynote lecture on Cross-Fertilisation of Methods for Dimensionality Reduction, from applications in uncertainty quantification to shape optimisation. The presentation will show how theory and techniques for stochastic processes and dimensionality reduction in uncertainty modeling and quantification have demonstrated their capability of providing a powerful framework for design-space variability assessment and dimensionality reduction in global shape optimisation. This cross-fertilisation of methods allows for the efficient exploration of large design spaces in shape optimisation, which, in turn, enables global multidisciplinary optimisation under uncertainty.
