International Energy Agency Wind Technology Collaboration Programme (IEA Wind TCP)

The aim of the International Energy Agency (IEA) is to encourage the cooperation among the member countries on the topics of energy, economical progress and environmental awareness. Specifically, the Agency focuses on aspects such as fossil fuels supply, renewable energy harvesting, electricity market, energy efficiency, access to energy, demand side management and much more. Through its activity, the IEA advocates policies that will enhance the reliability, affordability and sustainability of energy in its 30 member countries and beyond. Nowadays, IEA counts 30 member countries from North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Italy was one of the founding countries in 1974. Since the early years the IEA has developed a fundamental role in the global discussion on energy providing authoritative analysis through a wide range of publications, including the flagship World Energy Outlook and the IEA Market Reports; data and statistics, such as Key World Energy Statistics and the Monthly Oil Data Service; and a series of training and capacity building workshops, presentations, and resources.

The International Energy Agency Wind Technology Collaboration Programme (IEA Wind TCP) operates under the auspices of the International Energy Agency (IEA) and it has be founded in 1977. It is an international co-operation that shares information and research activities to advance wind energy research, development and deployment in member countries. During the years the IEA Wind TCP has developed and deployed wind energy technology through vigorous national programs and co-operative international efforts. Participants countries (26 at the moment) exchange the latest information on their current and future activities and participate in selected IEA Wind TCP Research Tasks. The member countries and organizations form a global network of researchers and policy experts focused on sharing the latest technology research and best practices to overcome specific barriers for wind energy deployment. The IEA Wind TCP reports the activities of their national programs and collaborative R&D projects in an Annual Report, which is provided to members for distribution in their countries. The Annual Report can be downloaded from the IEA Wind TCP website at no cost.
For Italy, the research institutions, Universities and companies joining IEA Wind TCP Task are listed in the following table
