Xueliang Wen: Similarity solution of Dobrovol’Skaya and an approximate solution for the water impact problem

Abstract

For the water impact with a constant speed, similarity solution of Dobrovol’Skaya is a very classical and efficient way to provide the self-similar flow of water entry of wedges. The method of Dobrovol’Skaya is extended to different cases of water impact problems. For the water impact with a varying speed, an approximate solution based on the similarity solution of Dobrovol’Skaya is proposed and the results are in good agreement with the CFD results and experimental results.

Bio

Xueliang Wen is a PhD candidate from Beihang University, in Beijing, China. He graduated in Fluid Mechanics from Beihang University, in 2014 and furthered the study with a PhD position in the same school. He is working on water entry problems by Dobrovol’Skaya method and CFD method.
