SWAMP launch

On August 30, 2019, SWAMP, the new CNR-INM Shallow Water Autonomous Multipurpose Platform, has been successfully launched in Genova harbour. The prototype Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV), designed and built during Angelo Odetti Ph.D. in cooperation with the Electrical, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Naval Architecture Department of the University of Genova, is the first step towards the design and development of an innovative class of reliable modular reconfigurable lightweight ASVs for very shallow water applications. The design of SWAMP-class ASVs is based on a holistic approach involving different aspects of robotics such as: i) use of soft materials, ii) mechanical design of innovative propulsion system integrated with the vessel hull, iii) adoption of modular mechanical and computing architecture able to support multi-agent distributed GNC systems.
