Naxos was the first Greek colony in Sicily. It is located on the east coast south of Messina, near a natural landing point for ships sailing from Greece to the west and Sicily.
It is part of a vast archeological park that counts:
- Naxos
- Taormina
- Isola Bella and Villa Caronia
- Francavilla of Sicily
- Church of SS Pietro and Paolo d’Agrò
